But over the course of four and a half seasons, you have a mutual respect that grows into a deep friendship between the two of them. Has it felt natural to you? Yeah, and later on, I think in Season Three and Four is when you really started to get a good sense of her as an individual. I think the writers needed some time to figure out what they wanted to do with Jo and I think that it was a good progression. Jo and Zane have had a rough time of it pretty much since the start.
What does Jo see in Zane and what do you think he sees in her? I think that he worked.

What kept them together was … who the hell knows? How is Eureka able to buck that trend? I sincerely believe that stems from reality.
I think that we all have a really great relationship with one another and I think, because we all get along as well as we do, that it translates onto film. Salli [Richardson-Whitfield] and Colin [Ferguson] are great friends.
Some sort of extension of the family, which I think would be really great. I love doing the fighting and I love doing all the tough stuff so I always want to keep doing that.
What is it about Eureka that you feel is different enough that it translates so well and is keeping an audience where others are losing their audiences? Well, I think that feel of the show is already a winner. When Eureka came around, there was a lot of hospital shows, there was a lot of shows that were just sort of depressing. They were great television, but they were depressing. We touch on old shows, we touch on new shows.Erica Cerra's birthday
And the characters are really fun. And like I said before, I do really strongly believe that our chemistry is a huge part of why the show continues.
Because of his criminal record, Zane is not eligible for the mission. Nonetheless, he sets out to show Senator Wen and her committee what they are losing out on by not allowing him to apply for the Astraeus program. Zane wants to do something good and be part of something like this because he knows that he can help.
Holly Marten Felicia Day and Dr. Isaac Parrish Wil Wheaton are confined together in a small space as part of their testing for the Astraeus mission. Much to their chagrin, they discover Zane hiding in a closet. Shooting this particular episode was a double-edged sword for Matter. I felt like I was getting squished, which is not a terribly comfortable feeling.
I enjoyed getting to go back and play more of the annoying, snarky Zane, but for a purpose. He was there as part of the test and I knew it was building up to that reveal.
I love that man. He cracks me up all the time, but the particular scene that cracked me up was when the mite dropped on his head. We did that so many times and every single time he did it in a totally different way and with a totally different girly scream. He starts caring for other people and putting them before his specific needs and even his own life at one point.
Zane truly begins to embody the hero I think people knew he could be.
