I think the authors purpose of this book was to demonstrate the mind of teenagers through the three teen girls. She shows many examples of the 'average' kids thoughts.

Toward the end of the story though, the characters stopped trying to impress each other, and acted like the person they really were. The movie is fun and romantic and relevant, and it was a delight to see Lara Jean, played by Lana Condor, come wonderfully to life on the screen.
